Internal conflict comes to a head

Written by Pterodromae Cahow at 18:13 8/11-2015

Bernd Burtscher's time with Pterodromae Cahow seems to be coming to an end. After manager Pythios announced that he will give youngster Keegan Pinson a chance to cap off his excellent season with a win at VCK Classic, Burtscher angrily shouted that he no longer wants to be a part of the Storm Petrels. Although no bids have yet been made to acquire Burtscher's services, Pythios is believed to be looking for a solution that will allow Burtscher to go.

The angry outburst of Burtscher, who won a Division 3 Classic last year, will come as no surprise to the followers of his team. Despite Burtscher's average of 48, many Bermudan riders simply refused to do the dirty work for the hill climber from Liechtenstein, allegedly because of his nationality. Reporters overheard one team mate shouting: "I don't care if he's a 211 climber! I will ride for the glory of Bermuda or I won't ride at all!" Despite Pythios' previous efforts to make this look like an isolated incident, it now appears to be anything but that.

The conflict between Bernd Burtscher and the rest of the Pterodromae comes at a particularly bad time for the Bermudan cycling team, that has targeted another trophy win at VCK Classic as their most important goal for the season. With an internal conflict and a possible transfer threatening to disrupt the unity of the team during their preparations for the upcoming Classic, Pterodromae Cahow have a couple of very tense days ahead of them.
